Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

Meghan Sunshine Downey was stillborn on September 7, 2007, at 42 weeks gestation.  She was born at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, NY, surrounded by her family, and the wonderful Dr. Bowen and nurses who helped bring her here.  Meghan was perfect ~ perfectly formed, perfectly healthy, and there is no known reason why she is no longer here with us.

We do not know why our daughter slipped away, but she is, and always will be, our precious baby, our firstborn, and our heart.  She is flying with the angels, and is held eternally safe in God's loving arms.

Please light a candle for Meghan when you visit. We love to see who is visiting our precious Meghan!

A moment in our arms, a lifetime in our hearts, our precious Meghan.

We loved you from the moment we knew you were there. We wanted you more than you will ever know. We needed you to brighten our lives. Sleep peacefully, my beautiful, precious angel. Smile down on us, and know just how loved you are.

You couldn't live apart from me.
What will I do apart from you?

I cry, because my precious daughter did not.

Her legacy
Meghan's Legacy- The Beginning

Meghan's legacy is about her life, not her death.

We were not given a birth certificate for Meghan, because according to the Department of Health, she did not live.  One breath, one simple heartbeat, separates the definition of life from birth.

Meghan lived.  She lived for her father and mother those short 9 months.  She kicked, she rolled, she woke and she slept.  She hiccuped, and liked to kick her father at 4 am.  She liked Taco Bell and cherry tomatoes, and did not like fruit first thing in the morning.  She was anticipated with joy, and she was and forever will be missed with heartache.

New York State currently has, and has had, a legislative bill pending to give parents of stillborn children the opportunity to file for a Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth (CBRS).  This would recognize the process that we went through to deliver her into this world peacefully sleeping, and would record her name forever as having existed.

Whitney and Craig Downey are campaigning and lobbying for this bill now, and hoping and praying that it will be passed.  Meghan's life was short but vital, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that her legacy lives on.  If you would like more information on the CBRS bill, in NY State or others, please visit www.missingangelsbill.org.
